Wine weekend in Istria




„Istria, the land of good wine“, this is the slogan with which we like to describe our beautifull region. Let us show you why! Thanks to a thousands years long tradition of growing wine grapes on our peninsula, and to the enthusiasm of the young wine producers combined with the newest technology, for already 15 years Istria is the leading wine region in Croatia in quality wines, which are very appreciated not only in Croatia, but also in the region.
Try our authotctonic white wine, the malvasia, compare the malvasia of the different producers and you will find it out why is it the leading white wine in Croatia. The Istrian Teran, an athoctonic red wine, once a tough and sour wine, today it is leaving its best times and it is certanly an interesting wine for the real wine lovers. For those who like the dessert wines, there's the Momian muskat, a sweet wine with an intensive essence which is ideal with all kind of desserts.
More than 20 Istrian wine producers will be proud to host their guests in the modern cellars and let them taste their excellent wines, and through the Istrian wine roads are going to guide you our professional guides specialized for enogastronomy.

THE PROGRAM

1st day (friday)

  • Arrival to Umag and accommodation in the hotel
  • Wellcome meeting and introduction of the program
  • After the meeting we'll take you to a local „konoba“ (tavern) for a dinner based on local specialities.

2nd day (saturday)

  • Brekfast in the hotel
  • at 10:30 we start our wine tour with the visit of one of the leading wine producers in the Buje area, where we'll make a tour of the cellar and try three different types of wine. After the wine tasting the owner will prepare a brunch with ham, cheese and different home made salamis.
  • After the brunch we'll continue towards Poreč, a wine growing area with several first class wine producers. Visit to one of the cellars and tasting of three different types of wines.
  • After the second wine tasting we'll proceed to Motovun, the most pitoresque medieval town in Istria located ona top of a hill. Sightseeing of Motovun and free time for a coffee or a walk along the city walls.
  • From Motovun we'll return to our Hotel. At approx 19:00 o'clock departue to one of the most exclusive Istrian Restaurants for dinner.

3rd day (sunday)

  • Brekfast in the hotel
  • To give you some time to take a walk along the sea or to visit Umag, we'll leave from the hotel about 11:00 to the probably most modern winecellar in Istria where we'll hava our last wine tasting, after that, a first class lunch in the restaurant which belongs to the same owner. last wine cellar of our trip.   • After lunch return to the hotel, and than departure home.
